Weekend Transfer News: Gignac, Chalmé, and More
By: Julien | June 23rd, 2007
Groupe Sporever’s Mercato 365 reports that Lille has a backup plan for a potential André-Pierre Gignac negotiation failure. Auxerre, and Toulouse are also attempting to sign Gignac. Les Dogues are supposely considering at least five different strikers if Gignac does not get signed! Among them include Anderlecht’s Mohamed Tchité, Nice’s Bakary Koné,Carlos Tenorio (Al-Saad),Yoan Gouffran (Caen),and Guillaume Hoarau (Le Havre). Anderlecht wants around ten million euros for Tchité. Koné is currently unable to play due to a shoulder injury, and Nice wants around 7 million euros for the Côte d’Ivoire national. LOSC plans to obtain at least one new striker by the end of the transfer period. Gignac is supposely a talented striker with good ball handling abilities. He has been pre-selected for the équipe de France Espoirs, and Gignac is believed to be a potential player of the Équipe de France in the future. Of the other possible new strikers, Koné and Gouffran seem most exciting to me. The Ivorian star has been linked to Arsenal. I read somewhere that Arsène Wenger considers him a phenomenon. That would be exciting to see either one of those strikers at Lille.
LOSC currently has three right backs. With the addition of Franck Béria, the club is expected to transfer Matthieu Chalmé or Stefan Lichtsteiner. Chalmé complained recently about the club’s transfer fee placed on him. He says it is too high for several clubs. Lens, Marseille, and Paris are interested in the Lille midfielder. Although Chalmé is attracting offers from outside France, he says that he wants to stay in his home country. Swiss international, Stefan Lichtsteiner, is being followed by a variety of notable clubs. Hertha Berlin, Saint-Étienne, Toulouse, Rennes, Bolton, and Newcastle all want Lichtsteiner. Hopefully, one of these clubs will pay good money for either of the defenders.

Gignac and Kone played on the same team, lorient, 3 years ago, although Gignac was 17 or 18 at the time. Either would be goo, but Gouffran may be out of your reach with the Arsenal interest. Also, what is Lilles stance on Kevin Mirallas, Belgiums star performer at the U-21 championships. He is a player that has interested me for three years now.

Mirallas has enjoyed a significant amount of playing time for the club. Also, last year Lille gave him a three year contract.
