What Lille Lost: Abdulkader Keïta
By: Julien | May 29th, 2008At the end of the 2006/2007 Ligue 1 season, LOSC Lille Métropole let go of one of the most talented players in the league, Abdulkader Keïta. The 26 year old Ivorien really was a LOSC key asset. He was with the club for two years. Keïta scored 16 goals in 84 matches for Lille. Do not let that so-so statistic bring his game down. The right-winger was an important presence on the field. He was selected for the Côte d’Ivoire National Team in 2000. Sadly for the Ivorien, he has not had too much playing time for his current club, Olympique Lyonnais. Usually, he was scratched for Sidney Govou. It truly was an unfortunate aspect of the Lyon line-up this season. They just have too many good players. I am really jealous of them in that respect alongside the many other great aspects of that Ligue 1 powerhouse. Abdulkader scored his first goal with Lyon during the previous season on March 9. Les gones played Girondins de Bordeaux that matchday. I hope that deep down Keïta will always remember how he grew in Lille, and the experiences he had.

One reason I think no one cares about Lille blog is that you guys just live in Lille’s past and don’t talk anything about the future. You don’t hear Lyon guys talking about Essien, Diarra etc. If you were to talk more about Lille’s stadium, new transfers, future plans I am sure more people will drop in.
Btw, Keita is a good player and I’m sure he will shine at Lyon.

First, that was pretty impertinent of you to say that no one cares about the Lille blog. Several people do read this blog and considering that not many people follow or watch the French league this blog does pretty well. This whole week I have discussed the future: the stadium, the calendar, and how we need to improve. I don’t live in the past with Lille. Previous posts have just discussed the impact that certain players’ departures have left on Lille and how we should look for players in the future. You can’t improve the future without looking at a few of the mistakes of the past. Furthermore, judging by most of your comments you seem to be a Lyon fan. I have nothing against that, but If you came here to start a Ligue 1 fan war then you came to the wrong place. Please watch your comments.

Alright I get you point. I just thought your posts were depressing to read.
I just like the French national team. I like Lille because they can in future produce a great team. But I am a Marseille fan even though I like Lyon ad PSG as well.Posted from
