Tony Sylva Signs With Trabzonspor
By: Julien | June 29th, 2008
Former Lille goalkeeper Tony Sylva just signed a two year contract with Trabzonspor Kulübü. Some consider Trabzonspor to be among the top four clubs in the Turkcell Süper Lig. Tony Sylva has finally left Lille after four seasons with the club. He had a great career with us. It was always a pleasure seeing him in the LOSC goal. His quick hands and sensational reflexes kept away many goals. I also loved his composure in goal. Even in the Champions League against Manchester United Sylva kept his cool. What a great player. He will be missed. I wish him luck with Trabzonspor and Les Lions de la Teranga. His player profile:

Birth Place: Guediawaye, Sénégal.

Lille’s Yohan Cabaye spoke about Rio Mavuba’s transfer to Lille:
“Rio’s arrival will also help immensely. Even though he is still young, he brings his experience and above all his desire to play. We can’t forget that he has international experience also. Knowing that he was playing with us, either Makoun or me, the team played better. Rio helped us to ascend in the table.”
Emil Lyng was one of LOSC’s first signings of the mercato. The 17 year old Dane seems pleased with his move: “Mikkel Beck told me about his first talks with Lille. I decided to try to negotiate also. I gave my best and I had a chance to impress. I was proud of myself. Next, everything came so quickly. And I fell in love with the city’s charm and the region. I am very proud to have signed with LOSC. But it is only the beginning.”

Cabaye and Debuchy will need to have big years if Lille is to progress back to the CL. My hope is they both do, because they are both good players.

I think the CL is a stretch for us. UEFA Cup at best this season.
