Tony Sylva May Head To Nice
By: Julien | June 2nd, 2008
Lille’s faithful keeper, Tony Sylva, may join OGC Nice next season. Les Aiglons are currently coveting two Ligue 1 keepers, Sylva and Valenciennes FC’s Nicolas Penneteau. The 33 Sénégalais’ contract with Lille soon expires leaving his job security up in the air. The talented keeper could go almost anywhere so he shouldn’t be too worried. I will miss his sharp reflexes in goal. He really elevated the Lille defense in the past. We could not have reached and survived the Champions League in the past without his hands.
LOSC management is presently interested in Valencia CF goalkeeper Ludovic Butelle. He was loaned to Real Valladolid for the 2007/08 season. Here is some background information on Butelle:
Name: Ludovic Butelle
Birthplace: Reims, France
Age: 25 years old
Position: Goalkeeper
Past clubs: MJEP Cormontreuil, FC Metz, Valence FC, Hercules Alicante (loan), Real Valladolid (loan).
Butelle does not really interest me. I do not see him as a worthy replacement for Sylva. I am crossing my fingers for a Itandje signing.
Lille’s very own Kevin Mirallas has been pre-selected for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. He has made Belgium’s 26 player list. Belgium is in Group C with Brasil, New Zealand, and China. I know he will make the club proud in Pekin. He was one of the leading scorers for the club last season. Mirallas has a lot of potential. The Olympic Games football tournament will be a good experience for him. Kevin will really mature there. I also have read that Lille is now competing with Nice to sign Loïc Rémy. I hope Seydoux does not let that important transfer slip away. There are still no major updates regarding Claude Puel’s job with Lille. Unless Seydoux balks my guess is that Puel is staying.
