Rudy Garcia Praises Current Squad

By: Julien | July 7th, 2008

Rudy Garcia spoke with La Voix du Nord about this transfer window praising the current squad:
“A benefit is that Lille can already succeed in Le Championnat with this current group of players. Currently, my obvious hope is that more new players will arrive. I want two good Ligue 1 goalkeepers and I am really pleased with the extension of Malicki’s contract. Next we have to still find an axial striker.”

Rapid Bucureşti also wants FC Metz attacker Babacar M’Baye Gueye. Like his compatriot and former teammate, Momar N’Diaye, he first started playing for Génération Foot Dakar. Then later he was signed by Metz. Since 2003, Babacar has played in 123 matches and scored 28 goals.

Alongside Nice and Lille, AS Monaco also wants to sign Carlos Tenorio. He is a 28 year old Ecuadorian international. ASSE says that Sébastien Puygrenier is one of their recruiting priorities. AS Nancy wants around 5 to 6 million euros for Puygrenier. Also, Stephan Lichtsteiner told L’Équipe that he is continuing talks with PSG. He already denied PSG’s earlier offers. Maybe he is getting desperate now. I don’t see why he just doesn’t stay with LOSC. Lille recruiting supervisor Alain Fiard quit the club recently. He resigned to join one of our region rivals, Valenciennes FC.

Grégory Tafforeau says Lille will be more offensive next season:
“To me it seems like LOSC’s 2008/2009 season will be more offensive than our previous seasons, there will be less tactics and more offensive pressure.”
That is a notable difference from the Claude Puel days. He was well known for his tactical coaching.

All this optimism is good but I hope they don’t set too high targets and then struggle to achieve even to their potential.

Lille can have Tenorio. i’d rather get Ilan to partner Piquionne at Monaco.

I heard Piquionne is on Nice’s radar if Kone leaves.

Apparently Monaco might be signing two Americans - Bradley and Adu.

I hope we get Piquionne instead of Nice. I still can’t believe they got rid of Lloris.

I doubt both the Americans are going to have an impact at Monaco.

Bradley and Adu in France? Hmm…. That already seems out of place. It sort of reminds me of that crazy Zidane to MLS rumor.
