Le Progrès reports that Jean II Makoun will be officially presented by Lyon at 15:00 H (French time). The transfer supposedly costs 15 million euros. Makoun’s new contract with Olympique Lyonnais will last 4 years. Makoun was with Lille for 8 years. He will be reunited with former Lille players, Mathieu Bodmer and Abdulkader Keïta. I consider this transfer a big loss for Lille. Makoun is a really strong and solid defensive midfielder. He provided additional support to our defense. It will surely be lacking without him. Olympique Lyonnais may cripple Lille even more during this transfer period. Our tactical manager, Claude Puel, and Swiss international Stefan Lichtsteiner both may also move there. I’m not sure why Seydoux enjoys feeding Lyon with talent. He wants to challenge Olympique Lyonnais for the Hexagoal by the year 2012. How is that possible when he keeps increasing the gap between Lyon and the rest of the league? You’re giving them Puel! If they can win Ligue 1 with Perrin just imagine how unstoppable they will be with Puel. Champions League title for Lyon? You heard it here first remember.

Sylva’s Sénégal Selection: Tony Sylva played a match yesterday for Sénégal against Liberia. He conceded 2 goals for Sénégal tieing the match 2-2. The match was a World Cup 2010 qualifier. Sad loss for Les Lions de Teranga. Liberia is ranked 136 in the world according to the FIFA rankings. Sénégal is 2nd place in Group 6. I love the Senegalese Football Federation’s (Fédération Sénégalaise de Football) logo, by the way.
Friendly Against Brugge: Lille plays Club Brugge K.V. on August 3rd at 20:30 H. Brugge is one of the best clubs in Belgian football. Brugge won their league 13 times, won the Belgian cup 10 times, went to the UEFA Cup final, and placed 2nd in the European Champions Clubs’ Cup (today it is named the UEFA Champions League). They placed third in the Belgian Jupiler League last season. I predict a 1-1 tie. We won’t have Makoun, Lichtsteiner, and probably not Puel by then. I think a draw is the only thing we can take from that match.

You think Puel can bring the Champions League? I dont, I think he will provide us with a more solid coaching platform, but he has little experience in the later stages of the group stage, so while I believe tactically he is very astute, I question his ability against the Wenger’s, Ancelotti’s and Klinsmann’s he will come up against. But I definately hope he can rise to the challenge, I want him to succeed with Lyon.

Yeah, I think so. If not his first season with Lyon definitely eventually.
