Makoun Confirms Departure

A L’Équipe interview with Jean II Makoun has confirmed his departure from Lille. Makoun stated that the thing most important for him is to grow as a player. He believes that Lille will have to understand how he feels. Makoun also said it was a question of motivation and rising to the top. Clearly, it seems that the LOSC defensive midfielder was becoming complacent at LOSC. He seems to have big ambitions (Lyon maybe?). Sad loss for the club. Like I said before, he really is solid on defense. What it really comes down to is his feelings towards the club. If he does not want to be in Lille he should not stay. It will be for the best if he leaves. OGC Nice midfielder, Florent Balmont, is a current potential replacement for Makoun. Now on to more exciting news. Lille is currently negotiating with Liverpool F.C. The club is interested in their keeper, Charles Itandje. He only played one match for the reds during his first season at Anfield. Although Itandje is getting old (currently 30), he would be a nice addition to the club, and a worthy replacement for Tony Sylva. I remember seeing Itandje at Lens playing with great form.
