LOSC Lille Métropole Has Now Lost 13 Total Players: Farewell Odemwingie
By: Julien | July 19th, 2007
According to L’Équipe, Peter Odemwingie has left LOSC. He will soon be playing for Lokomotiv Moscow. The official terms and information will be released tomorrow according to Oudaltsov. Odemwingie has signed a 4 year contract with the Russian club for 10 million euros. The Nigerian striker was linked to several clubs including Spartak Moscow, VfB Stuttgart, and S.S.C. Napoli. Before playing for Lille, Odemwingie played for Bendel Insurance Football Club (Nigeria), RAA Louviéroise (Belgium) and CSKA Moscow. He scored a total of 23 goals for Lille, and 4 goals for the Nigerian National Team where he has 9 caps. Peter was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan when it was part of the USSR. He has a Nigerian father, and a Russian mother. The 26 year old striker’s last season with Lille was lackluster. He only scored 5 goals. Lille’s “best” striker was a flop. Les Dogues have now lost a total of 13 players, and only recruited 3. Things look grim for the Northern club. Let’s review:
Gone:
Audel (Valenciennes)
Bodmer (Lyon) ![]()
Chalmé (Bordeaux) ![]()
Gygax (Metz) ![]()
A.Keita (Lyon) ![]()
Le Postollec (FC Brussels)

Odemwingie (Lokomotiv Moscow)
New Recruits:
Béria (Metz) YAWN
Maric (Egaleo FC Athènes) YAWN
Yanes (Santa FĂ©) YAWN
My transfer period rating for Lille is a 2/10. The three players we gained don’t make up for the key players we lost. From what I have read, the club isn’t in serious financial trouble. Our budget is 47 million euros. Did we really need to lose so much talent? Bodmer is an aspiring talent. We could have at least kept him.

Well you might as well mention that we have signed many new young players that are issued from the Lille football school. Therefore the balance is not that bad. I expect Lille to sign another 2 players and we are fit for a challenging season. They are slowing getting ready for the big time, which is when we get our Stadion.

Lilles youth system is pretty solid, so the players that are getting promoted should make up the numbers, but if they dont get the job done, expect Jean Makoun, Yohann Cabaye and Matheiu Debuchy, maybe Kevin Mirallas and Faverugue to leave in January or next summer. Then you will have absolutely no one in the team

Yeah, your right. It just isn’t the same, though.
