Jérémie Janot May Finish His Career At Lille
By: Julien | June 20th, 2008
Footlille reports that Nordiste (the French word for someone from northern France) Jérémie Janot may transfer to Lille or Lens during this mercato. My guess is that either Northern side would be okay for the SPIDERMAN keeper (what a funny guy!). LOSC is in Ligue 1 so hopefully that can persuade him to join us. I would love to see another TRUE Nordiste at Lille. My dad’s family is from Nord-Pas-de-Calais and most of them still live in Douai, a small town next to Lille. Janot is a talented keeper that has remained loyal to AS Saint-Étienne for several years. ASSE president Roland Romeyer has this to say about Janot’s future:
“He still has two years left on the contract. I already discussed with him a change of profession within the club at the end of his playing career.” Player profile:
Nationality: French.
Birth Date: October 11, 1977 (30 years old).
Birth Place: Same as my dad actually: Valenciennes, France.
Height: 5 ft 9 inches.
Weight: 75 kg.
Position: Goalkeeper.
Youth Clubs: Valenciennes FC and AS Saint-Étienne.
Stats: Since 1996 he has played 242 matches for ASSE. Wow! Now that is club loyalty. He won French Ligue 2 with ASSE in 1994 and 2004. Janot was the best Ligue 2 goalkeeper in the 2003-2004 season. In 2006 he was the only 3rd goalkeeper to win the Trophée du joueur du mois. Also in 2007 he won the Étoile d’or for best goalkeeper.
