Huh? Lille Ties Lyon At Stade de Gerland.
By: Julien | September 24th, 2007
Surprisingly, LOSC was able to receive a point from their Sunday Ligue 1 encounter. They played away against the mighty Olympique Lyonnais at Stade de Gerland. I was shocked to see the result. We tied the Empire Lyonnais in their stadium with a weak side. I think Inara even predicted a 3-1 score. Oddly enough Lille was able to survive. Match line-ups:
Just look at the talent on OL’s side compared to our side. They have the best players in the world, and we have a bunch of no names. Well anyway:
Olympique Lyonnais
Vercoutre
Clerc Anderson Squillaci Grosso
Toulalan Bodmer Juninho
Keita Baros Govou
LOSC
Sylva
Lichsteiner Béria Plestan Tafforeau
Obraniak Cabaye Dumont Makoun Bastos
Mirallas
Cards
Toulalan 49′ (OL)
Baros 87′ (OL)
Clerc 89′ (OL)
Scoring Summary
Bastos 17′ (LOSC)
Govou 58′ (OL)
Several former LOSC players played today for Lyon (Keita, Bodmer). I read that they were motivated to succeed. Keita and Govou played well together. Toulalan was solid. Juninho could’ve had a better match. The OL defense was not always tight, but hey they did enough. After the match, Puel said the club needed Sylva to perform well (he did for the most part), and that Les Dogues played a solid match. Notably, for Lille Makoun and Bastos played well. Nice tie for Lille. We were definately not the favorite in this encounter. Lille can build on this win, but it will be tough. Lyon on the otherhand should not worry. LOSC has had great defense in the past against big clubs such as Manchester United, and several others. OL should win their next match, and I still think they will win the title again.

I watched the match, and I thought Lille played a really good game. I don’t understand why Lille hasn’t been winning their games, because if they played the way they did against Lyon, they should have won the games against the smaller teams they faced.
Anyway, if you want to watch the game (in English or French), I can send you a download link. It’s a fun game to watch.
