Former Lyon And Nice Midfielder (Florent Balmont) Signing With Lille
By: Julien | June 25th, 2008
Footlille reports that Florent Balmont will officially be a Lillois tomorrow. The former OGC Nice midfielder has signed a three contract with Lille. Balmont also played for Olympique Lyonnais, and Toulouse. With Lyon he won Ligue 1 two times and the Trophée des champions. Florent played 36 matches last season. Garcia said that he expects Balmont to balance Makoun’s move to Lyon. He must be kidding. I mean come on. That is like comparing Mikaël Silvestre and Marcel Desailly.
Our new manager has been doing a lot lately from strengthening our offense to planning for the future. Rudi Garcia wants to find another striker to accompany Kevin Mirallas. Carlos Tenorio and Frédéric Piquionne are a couple options. Piquionne in a LOSC jersey?! Pas mal (not bad)! Tony Sylva still didn’t sign with a new club. Garcia is getting ready to discuss his future with the club. I would like to see him stay, but maybe a younger keeper is a better idea for Lille. Joan Hartock would be nice, but that is wishful thinking. One of Rudi’s goals for the club is bringing one of the French cups to LOSC. We haven’t won the Coupe de France since 1955 and Lille has never won the Coupe de la Ligue. I would rather go to the UEFA Cup then win either of these, honestly. Kevin Mirallas is going to talk to Garcia, Seydoux, and other members of the LOSC management today about his future. Supposedly, Lille wants to extend his contract. Good move! Don’t let this phenom (overstatement I know) slip away!
Today, the Lille players returned to practice this morning (French time) at Domaine de Luchin. It marks the club’s first time practicing with Rudi Garcia, Claude Puel’s replacement. According to the official LOSC website, the practice was light and followed by physical and medical tests. The practice was closed to the public. Hmmm a practice without Puel. That is a dramatic change for some of the players. I wonder how they will feel about Rudi Garcia and his style.

Hartock! Hmmm, I forgot all about him. Its so bad that Vercoutre stayed on at Lyon because he probably would have been the backup to Lloris, but now I expect him to move on. Although, Alexandre Bouchard just moved to Chateroux which means Lyon is a little short on youth keepers, as Aymes, Lopes and Gorgelin are still far to young for the first team. So while I would like to see Hartock playing for Lille, he may still play another season in the CFA for Lyon’s reserves.

Balmot is a good signing for Lille. If Lille can get Mavuba as well I think Lille midfield will be good.

Ah. Good for Little Olympic Sporting club!

CFA for Hartock? That is a shame to waste him in division 4 French football. Aditya, Garcia and the Lille management are trying to keep Mavuba. I remember reading that talks were close to his definite stay at Lille.

Lille still need to find a striker and a few additions to the defense, although Franquart has not played badly and Rami has been pretty good. I suggest looking at one of Marseille’s not needed players, either Jacques Faty or Ronnie Zubar.

I think Zubar has already left on loan to Lens. How good is Faty anyways? I have never seen him play though I know he did good for Rennes and was a member of French U-21.

Corey, we do need more defenders. Lichsteiner might be on the way out. Aditya, according to Mercato365 Zubar hasn’t moved to Lens.
