De Melo Seals A LOSC Victory

Today, Lille gained a difficult three points at home against AJ Auxerre in a Ligue 1 match. It was our 6th match of the season. Winning has been hard to come by, lately. Last week’s match ended in a draw against Sochaux taking only one point from the encounter. We started today’s match well early on. Tulio De Melo scored in only the 2nd minute of the match thanks to poor defending from Auxerre. Les Dogues closed the half with a one goal lead. Auxerre’s Quercia answered quickly to our lead at the opening of the second half by scoring his first goal. Although Malicki didn’t have many attempts on his goal, he conceded two costly goals. A defeat at home seemed likely, but soon the tide changed. Hazard and De Melo scored very late goals (88′ and 94′) sealing a home victory. Final score LOSC 3-2 Auxerre. Tough match for Lille supporters to watch. This one came down to the wire. The victory brings the club up to 11th place in the table, but the current standings are destined to change with tomorrow’s fixtures. A Nancy or Rennes victory tomorrow will take us down in the table. Match facts:
