9 Points In 8 Matches: A Long Season Ahead
By: Julien | September 20th, 2007LOSC Lille Métropole may be in for a long season. After emerging from a difficult season full of disappointment and frustration in the Ligue 1 table and the Champions League, LOSC hasn’t improved but instead arguably gotten worse. This summer, the club management decided to take a new direction. The transfer window saw the departure of over 10 players, and the addition of a few players. Most of which were young. The management has expressed the desire to develop young talent, which is such a bad idea. I think the club should be worrying about getting to the Champions League to gain more revenue. Lille currently sits 14th place in the table. The club has only received 9 points in 8 matches. Caen, Sochaux, and Metz are in relegation zone but I think Caen and Metz will survive and Sochaux will go down. Our northern rivals, RC Lens, is 17th place in the table (woohoo). Les Dogues currently possesses a young, inexperienced, and unoriginal squad. Outside of France people know few LOSC players (Mirallas, Kluivert, and Makoun are about it). Our coach, Claude Puel (former AS Monaco coach) is probably the best asset we have. LOSC still doesn’t have a new stadium, and the club is setting up to miss another UEFA Champions League. It is not looking good.
