Gygax leaves Lille
By: Julien | June 22nd, 2007
FC Metz’s official website reports that Daniel Gygax has left LOSC. The swiss attacking midfielder has signed a three year contract for supposely 800,000 euros. Prior to the transfer, Gygax was on loan to Metz from Lille. Gygax has played for such professional clubs as FC Zürich, Lille, and Metz. He has 25 caps and 5 goals for the Swiss National Team. During his career at Lille, he scored an important UEFA Champions League 2006/2007 goal against AEK Athens to take Lille to the knockout stage. Some Lille fans complained about the lack of playing time Gygax had. I hope that Yanes will be able to replace him in the midfield, but I remain doubtful. I see this as another key loss from Lille. Gygax is 26 years old. He was born in Zurich, Switzerland.

Lille have to start recruiting now… They defintely could have gotten Sablé instead, it would have made a lot more sense.

I never quite understood why Puel didn’t want Gygax. He always seemed like a talented kid, if a little raw. Hopefully he’ll do well at Metx.
