Kevin Mirallas’ Future With Lille Still Uncertain

Risky business for Lille right now. Kevin Mirallas’ future with LOSC is still up in the air. Spain? England? Netherlands? Germany? France? Where will the Belgian play next season? His thoughts:
“LOSC asked me to extend my contract for three years. We are in the process of negotiating. We will see what happens. I have not made a decision. My agent told me that numerous clubs are interested in me. If I don’t reach an agreement with Lille, it is possible that I will leave.”
One of Lille’s options to replace Mirallas is Sébastien Grax. How is that honestly an option right now? He just signed a three year contract with Sochaux a week ago. Do the LOSC recruiters really think that he will move again so soon?

Le Progrès reports that AS Nancy valued Puygrenier so high (5 to 6 million euros) to keep him out of France. Supposedly, Nancy does not want to hand him over to one of their Ligue 1 competitors. This is a move that I wish Lille did in the past. Instead of letting players go to Olympique Lyonnais and reinforcing their unstoppable side, I think Makoun should have been transferred outside of Europe. OM blog writer Magnusson reminded me awhile ago that one of Lyon’s investors is Michel Seydoux’s brother, Jérôme Seydoux. Obviously, that has some pull in the close transfer relationship that the two clubs have (Olympique Lillois returns?).

Footlille reports that no discussions have been made between Lille and Saint-Étienne for Geoffrey Dernis. Benfica and Espanyol are more interested in the midfielder than LOSC and AS Nancy.

The LFP has released Lille’s television schedule. It is actually a great reminder that the next season is starting pretty soon. July is already moving fast it seems. Well at least for me it is.

The Lille/Reims friendly will be played Friday evening (18 H French time) at Luchin. Surprisingly, it will be a closed match. Meaning no one can spectate this match. Hmm…. Why closed you’re probably asking. I am as confused as you are. On a similar note, Lille’s first open practice is tomorrow at the same location (9:30 French time). I will try to ask one of my cousins to check out the match. Half of my family still lives in France, by the way (just incase you thought I was flying all the way to France for a friendly and with the weak dollar).

Lille’s 6th Ligue 1 week match wiill not be carried on Canal +, but instead FOOT +. That match will be played on Wednesday, August 29th at 20:30 H (France time).

Should be a fairly close match. Sochaux isn’t a bad club. Last season they finished 7th in the table, and Lille finished 10th. I predict a score of 1-0 Lille.

FC Lorient Will Miss Two Key Players Against Lille

FC Lorient-Bretagne Sud will miss two key players for their Ligue 1 opening match against Lille this upcoming Saturday. Bourhani (attacker), and Marchal (defender) will miss the match. Genton, Cappone, Pinard, B. Robert, and M’Bodji are other scratched players for Lorient. I already predicted the score for the match (Lille 1-0 Lorient) this Saturday. What do you guys think? Also, Ligue 1 has revealed that Lille’s match against PSG in the 5th week will be televised by Canal + Sport. That match will be played on the 26th of August. FC Lorient is nicknamed Les Merlus, which means The Hakes. A hake is a type of fish. Hopefully, Lille will do this when we fish FC Lorient:

Spartak Moscow Offers Lille 6 Million € for Odemwingie

The LOSC office has recently received an offer of 6 million euros for Peter Odemwingie from Spartak Moscow. Is Odemwingie worth that much? I am eager to see the outcome of this story. Also, the Sporting Lisbon/LOSC match will be televised on RTPI this upcoming Saturday at 22h15. I believe the match will also be televised on LOSCWebTV, as well.

According to allezlesdogues.com, LOSC is interested in FC Bruges’ Jeanvion Yulu-Matondo. The 21 year old striker has a contract with his current club till 2008, but it appears that he wants a new home. PSG is another French club that has shown interest in the striker. He scored a total of 9 goals last season. The Belgian striker is known for his dribbling, and speed. Matondo sounds like a good addition to the club. Hopefully, we can make a good offer for him.

Souleymane Youla is another Lillois that has been interviewed recently. The interview was more informative than Seydoux’s. Youla says he will stay at Lille. When asked about the club’s terrible 2006/2007 season, he said it is best for the club to move on. The Lille striker also said the last season was complicated, especially mentally. Mercato 365 asked Youla what he thought about leaving the club. Souleymane says he has thought about it, but he has decided to stay in Lille. Youla has garnered interest from the recently promoted RC Strasbourg and a Turkish club. Finally, he touched on the probability that Odemwingie will stay with Les Dogues. He says one wants Odemwingie to stay with Lille, but he has received offers that he can’t refuse. Thanks Youla for providing Lille fans with an informative interview. Last season Youla only scored 2 goals in 16 matches. Yuck! He isn’t a very talented player, in my opinion. I think we should sell him.

Friendly Matches and Rafaël Schmitz Gets Loaned

LOSC Lille Métropole was recently invited to a friendly match against Sporting Clube de Portugal. I always liked Sporting’s club logo. If Lille accepts, then it will be the club’s third friendly match before the upcoming Ligue 1 season. The match is supposed to be played on July 21 at 21:00 H local time. Also Lille’s first friendly of the season will take place tommorow against Olympique Lyonnais. The match takes place at Stade Olympique d’Albertville, and kickoff is at 18:00 H. LOSCWebTV will re-air the match on Sunday from the evening to midnight. The cost is around 1.50 euros. The match will also be available on OLTV.

In other news, Birmingham City F.C., has confirmed the signing of Rafaël Schmitz on loan from Lille. The loan is for one season. According to allezlelosc.fr, the Brazilian, obtained French nationality in May. He currently has dual nationality, but is awaiting his French passport. Interesting development. I don’t know much about Schmitz’s background, but I am assuming that some of his family members were immigrants to Brazil. After all Schmitz isn’t a Brazil name.

L’Équipe Releases Ligue 1 TV Rights Information

Today, the French sports newspaper,L’Équipe, released the cost of TV rights charged for each Ligue 1 club this upcoming season. Six time Ligue 1 champions, Olympique Lyonnais, are the highest on the list with 44.56 million euros. Olympique de Marseille is second with 42.92 million euros, and our rivals RC Lens (des salauds) are third with 34 million euros. Lille placed eighth on the list with 25.07 million euros. That number isn’t bad, but it isn’t great either. I think our goal should be to at least break 30 million euros next time. I am surprised that PSG wasn’t third. Troyes was last on the list with 13.55 million euros.
