Doh! Lille Loses At Home

The 2007/2008 Ligue 1 season is winding down. Lille played their 31st match of the season yesterday against AJ Auxerre. The match was played at home. LOSC not only lost the match, but did so without scoring a single goal. Final score LOSC 0-2. Lille remains 7th place in the table. Match facts:

The first period was mainly controlled by Auxerre, but eventually Lille controlled possession. After Auxerre received their first goal they started to cruise on to victory. Lille had trouble adapting against the tactical Auxerre side. Sylva did a good job in goal by keeping several chances out of Auxerre’s reach. I really did not expect the club to have trouble against a weak Auxerre side. It looks like we will miss the Champions League yet again.

I am surprised how well Lille has recovered from a poor opening to the season. You certainly are not starring relegation in the face like Lens or PSG, so a UEFA cup spot would be a nice prize for the season.
