Goals

Lichsteiner 43′ (LOSC)
Plestan 67′ (LOSC)
Les Dogues received a solid win today. They shutout Valenciennes FC 3-0. This was only the club’s second win of the season. Patrick Kluivert scored his first goal of the season in the 5th minute on a penalty kick from an infraction by Sommeil. Valenciennes had most of the match possession, but Lille had more chances to score. On offense Mirallas and Kluivert played well. Mirallas had several chances to score. Cabaye and Debuchy did a nice job supporting the attackers, and Makoun protected the LOSC defense well. Lichtsteiner was also good on defense. By the way, I haven’t been posting regularly because I have been so busy with school. Lille’s next match is away to Caen.

Man, if Obraniak had put that free-kick away…

What do you think Puel’s goal is for the season? Do you think he’ll be pushing for a top five finish (and a spot in Europe), or is he simply interested in letting the squad gel?

I think that Lille could push for top 5 along with Rennes, but injuries could really derail their campaign. I really hope Mirallas starts putting away his chances, his potential is incredible. On par with Briand and Gouffran for young strikers in Ligue 1, but Benzema is in a league of his own.
