A Miserable Sunday: Lille Set To Take On Lyon
By: Julien | September 21st, 2007
Yes you read it correctly. Les Dogues are up against the Roman Empire of Ligue 1, Olympique Lyonnais. Les Gones have won the Ligue 1 title for six consecutive years, and it probably won’t stop soon. For several years they have won it easily. Arguably, there is a huge gap between Lyon and the rest of the Ligue 1 sides. Year after year Les Gones have steamrolled the competition in France hurting the image of the league. Some people blame Lyon for the league’s poor reputation, and others blame the rest of the clubs for not raising their level of play. Regardless, Lille faces a daunting task on Sunday. They head to Lyon’s home (oh boy…) STADE MUNICIPAL DE GERLAND. OL is second in the table with 15 points. Compare that to Lille’s 14th place and a laughable accumulation of only 9 points in 8 matches. Basically, LOSC is just begging to lose. They might as well rest the key players for our derby match in the 10th week against Valenciennes.

I think Lille can create an upset. I am a Lyon supporter, but Lille is one of our dark horses along with Rennes.
Lille plays rigourous football, and Lyon struggles when teams play as a team… I forsee a draw, but I will obviously want a home win (especially to calm down “supporters” after the 3-0 humiliation).Posted from

Congratulations. As a Lyon fan I’d rather you hadn’t walked away with a point, but hey. Based on the form you showed last night I can’t see Lille staying that far down the league for long. It was a good match and Lille were strong and very organised, and your goalie is too good by half.
